Since 2016, the ZukunftsRegion Westpfalz has been honoring individuals who have made a special contribution to the development of the West Palatinate region as part of the Westpfalz Awards.

Once a year, the West Palatinate Future Award honors a personality who has contributed to the future viability of the West Palatinate region in recent years with a particularly innovative and forward-looking project. The award is intended to highlight and honor activities that have a lasting positive impact on the innovative strength and competitiveness of the regional economy, securing the supply of skilled workers, social cohesion, regional self-confidence and/or the image of the West Palatinate region, e.g. by initiating and organizing social, cultural, urban development or environmental projects.

The prize consists of a certificate, a cup and a cash prize of €1,000, which is to be donated to charitable causes in the West Palatinate region. The prize winner determines who will ultimately benefit from the prize money.
