Improving European competencies
As a region located in the middle of Europe, on the border to France, the West Palatinate is dependent on constructive exchange with its neighboring regions. In addition, the funding pools of the European Union offer considerable opportunities for both public institutions and companies.
Between April and July 2014, five lectures by proven experts on Europe were held at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern under the title "Visions for Europe", including the then head of the ZDF studio in Brussels, Udo van Kampen. The aim of the series of lectures was to give visitors a better understanding of the Brussels network and the processes at European level, thus creating a basis for useful contacts with European institutions.
With the same aim, an information and lobbying trip by members of our association to Brussels took place from 4 to 5 November 2014. In addition to a visit to the European Parliament and the Rhineland-Palatinate state representation, the trip also included a meeting with Jutta Steinruck, Member of the European Parliament. Further trips organized by the Europe Direct Center in Kaiserslautern followed in 2017 and 2018.
